Thoughts on Psalm 25:12-15

12 Who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose. 13 They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land. 14 The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. 15 My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.

Have you every noticed a neighbor or a family member, who seems to always be in crisis. They seem to struggle with every obstacle. I was once like this myself. I was confident that I could do anything, but I was not open to instruction. Most people call this kind of person hard headed. For me I was not in relationship with the God who prospers the faithful.

The passage today opens with a rhetorical question. Who, then are those that fear the Lord? The answer is those that are instruct-able in following the Lord. When we seek to follow the Lord we are able choose the right path to navigate the struggles, crisis, and life issues without losing our relationship with the Lord. To be prosperous you must seek Godly instruction.

Many of us have friends or family members we turn to, to confide in, when we are struggling. Do you have a friend or family member that you confide in when you are facing a challenge? God confides in those who fear him. Fear here represents how we are in relationship with God. Those who are in right relationship with God fear disrespecting Him. When we seek out advice from a friend or family member we are careful to not offend them, because we need their help. The same is true when we are in relationship with God. He has made his covenant know to us. The difference is that this covenant will never be broken by him, but it can be broken by us when we disrespect our Lord.

Those that continue to struggle seem to make the same mistakes over and over. These people seem to be unable to make the right choices. They find themselves in a fix more than not. Their choices are made for self preservation. Their eyes are not fixed on God, but on schemes to fulfill their desires. Their relationships seem to be surface at best.

Do you feel that your relationship with God is broken? Have you fixed your eyes on the Lord? Those who are not fixing their eyes on the Lord will surely stumble. But those that keep their eye on the real prize, will receive guidance from an all knowing God who loves you and desires the best for you.

Let Your Prayer be: O Lord, I am so blessed knowing that Your covenant sustains my life. Instruct me so I may guide my family in the way we should go. As we receive the blessings You give to us, may we feel the prosperity of your promises . Help me to keep my eyes on what matters most, so I do not stumble.  Amen...
