Recovering from Mishap

| Is this your outcome |
Today I was working the Sony Open in Hawaii. I was a volunteer with Shot Link on the third fairway. A good mentor Chris Archer a Chaplain in the US Army was working with me. Our job was to shoot a laser on every tee shot and then give a grid location as to the location of the result.
It was just around noon when Bud Cauley came through. His tee shot was hit on the right side of the fairway around some trees. He hit his second shot onto the green out of the rough over the trees. It was a great shot. However, early we watched Vijay Singh land and hit in the same area with a much different result. He hit the trees and landed in the rough just a thirty yards from where he hit his second shot. His third shot landed short of the green and rolled through ending up in the rough with a tricky pitch back onto the green. He got a double bogy 6. Bud Cauley a par.
In golf many things play a part in the outcome of a shot: The lie of the ball, the club that is used, the shot path, the swing, the player's head thoughts, the confidence of the shot, etc... Many things cause good and bad shots but it is the outcome at times that either continues to throw off a player's game or confirms a player's game.
Our walk with Christ at times may be just like this, We shoot seeking to hit the mark but get off track. Then the Holy Spirit calls out to us, that we are off the course. If we fail to listen or take time to seek out the Holy Spirit our next actions, thoughts, or words could cause us to further stumble ending up off the course of glory.
Vijay Singh is a season pro Bud Cauley a new comer to the PGA tour. Both have the skills to hit the shot when needed, but today only Bud hit the shot that got him back on course. Today, the question that you must answer is are you off the course of salvation? Are you finding yourself in the rough of life's circumstances and sin's snares. If so reach out to God the Father and look towards the fairway of life given to you by Christ's blood and the Holy Spirit guiding you towards the green of salvation.
Pray with me, O Lord I need you to guide me to hit the mark on the course of life. Guide me to seek out the Holy Spirit for all of life's circumstances. When I find myself in the rough, humble me. Teach me to learn from my errors. May my confidence be in You and not in me. And when I hit the mark may I give you the glory for it is You that guides me to green of salvation. Amen...
